Biography

Captain Harold L. Washburn

1973 - Dec 1976

Captain Washburn enlisted in the South Alta Regiment (M) in 1936 and served overseas with the Regiment until 1945. In 1946, he enlisted in the Alberta Dragoons. In 1949 he transferred to R.C.E.M.E. until 1959. He enlisted in the Cadet Services with #180 Army Cadet Corps, Edmonton. In 1969 his job transferred him to Medicine Hat and he enlisted in 2313. In 1973 when the Corps changed its name, Captain Washburn took over as CO and served until his retirement in December 1976. Captain Washburn was chosen as a Rifle Coach for the Canadian Bisley Rifle Competition at Bisley, England in 1966 and again in 1968. He was Chief Instructor for Rifle Coach Courses at Calgary in 1964 and 1965. Chief Instructor for Rifle Coach courses at Shilo, Manitoba in 1967, 1969, 1970 and 1971.
