Captain Ken Dent
Captain Dent enrolled in the Canadian Army (Regular) in March 1948. He did his basic training in Camp Borden, Ontario and was posted to Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) (LdSH) (RC) in October 1948. Captain Dent served in Calgary, Alta; Churchill, Man; with the 56 RECCE Squadron in Egypt from 1957 to 1958 (11 months) returning to LdSH (RC) Calgary.
He was posted to Toronto as an Armed Forces Recruiter from 1960 – 1963, then returning to Calgary.
/In Oct 1965, Ken Dent was posted to Medicine Hat as Regular Forces Support Staff for the Militia. He retired from the service in March 1973 after 25 years of service.
Whilst in the service he instructed LdSH(RC) Army Cadets at Calgary . He was also involved with Little League Baseball for 3 years and youth hockey in the winter months as Coach/Manager. When he moved to Medicine Hat, he again became involved with youth both in Baseball and Hockey.
In January 1980, Ken Dent enrolled in the Cadet Instructor List, was promoted Lieutenant and then Captain. He assumed command of the Corps in September 1984 until October 1989, then as League Representative from 1990 - 1992. Captain Dent again assumed command of the Corps in June 1992 until Oct 1994. Captain Dent served as the League Rep for the corps until 2009. Decorations: Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal, UNEF 1 Medal, CD with second bar.
