Commanding Officer’s Message
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a safe and joyous holiday over the Christmas season and is ready to get back to training in 2018. There will be lots happening in the coming months and I’m very excited about some of the changes we’ll be implementing over the remainder of the training year. I can’t wait to jump back into it.

PART V – SUPPORT COMMITTEE
Message from the Chair
We have a very exciting event coming up that is bringing together the three Cadet Branches (Army, Sea and Air). It is a initiative being lead by the Sea Cadet Support Committee. The event is scheduled for Sat Feb 17. Now this is the weekend that leads into the family week break. We know that there will be cadets that are not able to attend due to family vacations however it was the only weekend that all three cadet branches and other logistics would line up. Basic run down of what will take place is as follows:
Sat Feb 17 at the Patterson Armoury from 8am till 6pm.
Lunch will be provided for all cadets.
There will be 9 teams (approx 8 cadets per team) which will be a mix of all three branches. This will help the kids to get to know one another better and encourage working together.
There will be 6 events that each team will compete in. Each branch will be creating 2 events for the day.
There will be a canteen on site selling drinks and snacks throughout the day. As mentioned above lunch will be provided.

There is another potential day of activities being spearheaded by the Air Corp to take place on the Sunday this would consist of a volleyball and basketball competition. However there still needs to be confirmation of the Armoury being available and a possible conflict with the Marksmanship Competition. I just wanted to make sure everyone was aware of this possible event. I’m hoping to have more info on this portion NLT this Thursday.

The Air Corp has also suggest having a Tri-Service Ball on Sunday Feb 18 evening as well. This would be similar to the dinner our cadets attended at the start of the year for the Change of Command events. This would consist of a dinner and dance that would be attended by the three branches. The only catch to this would be that there would have to be a cost to attend. Our Support Committee maybe able to supplement the cost to reduce the cost to the cadets. We have not been provided an actual cost per cadet as of yet; this is being lead by the Air and Sea and they are getting the details together.
What we need to know is if there is enough interest from each of the cadet corps to pursue this event.
So at a cost of $25-$30 per cadet would your cadet being interested in attending The Tri-Service Ball? YES or NO (NOTE THERE IS NO REQUIREMENT TO ATTEND)
I would like to stress that this event was brought to our attention late Dec so this was not included in our Budget for this year. This is why we are not able to cover the entire cost for this dinner. I have suggested to the other three branches should this dinner not happen this year that we approach it again next year but with more planning ahead. I’m not a fan of asking our parents to pay for any cadet event but I told the other Support Committees that I would ask the question to our parents.

2) So at a cost of $25-$30 per cadet would your cadet being interested in attending The Tri-Service Ball?
